Now that you have the time, you owe it to yourself to make the most of it. At the ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center you'll find other mature adults with a youthful enthusiasm for living, sharing, and experiencing new rewards each and every day!

The ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles is truly a very special place. Expand your horizons and explore new interests. Meet other active seniors in a lively, positive environment that offers individual fulfillment within a comforting community.

We offer a variety of programs and services specifically designed to empower and enrich our seniors while enhancing the quality of their everyday life. Programs include selected college level courses, arts and crafts, language studies, writing workshop,   and vocal music. Additionally, you'll find a dozen different support-discussion groups offering peer support and stimulating ideas. Exercise enthusiasts can choose from a variety of dance classes, tai chi, and yoga. Seniors with activity restrictions can participate in either the chair exercise program or our unique, "Be Fit While You Sit" program. The Center also features a large air conditioned pool room with six top flight pool tables and plenty of friendly players.

In addition to the everyday fun, the Center provides free legal assistance, counseling, advocacy assistance and nutrition counseling. If healthy living is a concern, we offer many health screenings, including podiatry, blood pressure, and auditory and visual acuity. For those adventure seekers, a travel department is located onsite to provide participants access to trips, cruises and group outings.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

· Daily lunch weekdays in the Dining Center

· Information, resource and referral assistance

· Income tax services

. Immigration services

· Free health screenings (hearing, blood pressure, vision, cholesterol, blood-sugar)

· Podiatry services

· Braille Institute classes and visual aids consultations

· Mental health assistance, counseling, and support groups

· Transportation assistance

· Local group trips, outings and travel planning assistance

There is no charge for membership and most classes and services are free. A portion of the funding for programs comes from the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging.

OSEC Advisory Council Wants You!
 
If you would like to become more involved with the programs and events at OSEC, joining our Advisory Council might be just the option you are looking for. The Advisory Council meets on the first Friday of each month at 9:30am, and is composed of OSEC staff and active volunteers who are the “eyes and ears” of the Center.  Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 3rd , in Room 108. Contact Ginny Hatfield, Advisory Council Chair, at 818-708-6380, for further information.
