Partners & Supporters

The Edelstein Family Charitable Foundation

The Edelstein Family Charitable Foundation continues to support many of our programs such as adult daycare scholarships, homebound weekend meals for our homebound seniors and our teen parenting program, to name a few. The ongoing support is needed now more then ever and it is much appreciated.

Costco – Van Nuys

Every week Costco donates baked goods to our Senior Enrichment Center, giving low income older adults the opportunity pick up a bag of bagels, loaf of bread or a sweet treat.  This additional nutritional support is greatly appreciated by those on fixed incomes and seniors without transportation to shop regularly.

Food Forward

Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people in need and inspiring others to do the same.  Food Forward sends volunteers to local homes in the San Fernando Valley with fruit trees in their yards to help collect the viable oranges, lemons, etc….The homeowners keep the amount they estimate they will be able to personally use and the excess is donated to local nonprofits such as ONEgeneration.  If you have a tree on your property with more than you can use, please contact Food Forward and let them know that you would like to donate your fruit to ONEgeneration. These donations are given out to low income seniors at the Senior Enrichment Center as well as distributed with home-bound meals to frail older adults.

Low Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic

ONEgeneration hosts the Low Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic every Sunday from 3:30pm to 5:00pm, following our Encino Farmers Market at 17400 Victory Blvd. in Van Nuys.  This wonderful community partner will help you keep your pet up to date on vaccines at a reasonable rate.

Greater Toledo Community Foundation

Greater Toledo Community Foundation funding supports older adults with Alzheimer’s or dementia related conditions attending the ONEgeneration Adult Daycare & their families, in addition to our overall mission.

National Charity League

The mission of National Charity League is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.  The NCL Experience inspires and empowers women to succeed as confident, well-rounded and socially aware contributors in their communities. National Charity League is a very supportive organization to ONEgeneration. Always ready, willing and able, they serve as regular volunteers at our Farmers Market and at all of our other events.

Panera Bread

Since their founding, Panera Bread and its franchisees have been active in our communities. Operation Dough-Nation was founded in 1992 to formalize their commitment to community involvement. Since then, it has grown to include four major activities: Community Breadbox™ cash collection boxes, the Day-End Dough-Nation™ program, Panera/SCRIP Card fundraising and participation in community events. We are pleased to have donations of bread each week for our needy seniors, children and their families. We are truly grateful for their generosity and support.

Providence – Tarzana Medical Center

Providence Tarzana Medical Center is a 245-bed medical center located in the San Fernando Valley, which houses the San Fernando Valley Heart Institute, Orthopedic Services, Women’s Pavilion & Resource Center and the Diabetes Care Center.  Providence Tarzana has a reputation for clinical excellence and sophisticated technology with a personal touch.

SCAN Health Plan

SCAN’s mission is simple: Keeping Seniors Healthy and Independent. That’s been the SCAN mission since the organization was founded in 1977.  It started when a group of senior activists in Long Beach, California got together, determined to improve access to the care and services they needed so they could stay as independent as possible. They brought together experts in medicine, gerontology, psychology and social services and formed the Senior Care Action Network, a not-for-profit health plan for people with Medicare.  Now known as SCAN, they are still not-for-profit. And are still dedicated to helping members live how and where they choose, with the assistance they might need as they get older.

Stern Geriatrics – David H. Stern, MD

Dr. Stern serves as the Medical Director of ONEgeneration’s Adult Day Healthcare Program. He reviews participant care plans and makes recommendations for enhanced care. He is available as needed for consultation on medical concerns.

Dr. Stern is a graduate of Columbia and SUNY Downstate Medical School in New York. His internal medicine and gastroenterology training continued at UCLA and Wadsworth/West LA Veterans Hospital, followed by two years in the Air Force, and then private practice. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Geriatric Medicine. Intellectually and medically prepared to deal with aging patients who suffer a wide variety of medical problems, he is also wise and warm and supportive, qualities that may be much harder to find than his fine medical training.

Until it closed, Dr. Stern was a medical director of S+AGE, the specialized geriatric evaluation clinic. During that time, he worked in UCLA’s Geriatric training program, demonstrating to physicians the best level of clinical care of the elderly. He was the initial director of the geriatric inpatient program at Encino Hospital and is medical director of the Silverado Calabasas Memory Care Community.

Valley Motor Center

Valley Motor Center has been providing expert collision repair since 1944. They have been family owned and operated since February, 1992. Their intense focus on customer care reflects who they truly are. For many years, they have used an outside company to communicate with every one of their customers, to determine how their overall performance has been judged by those they’ve served. Their score of 98% of customer satisfaction is among the very highest in any industry. They are proud of their designation as an I-Car Gold Class Shop, meaning that every one of their technicians has achieved the highest level of training, certification and expertise in their industry.

ONEgeneration received a Honda Odyssey Van through the Recycled Rides Program and Valley Motor Center a few years ago. We are so grateful to have been chosen to be a part of this program, and the vehicle, which was much needed, is much used.

Western Bagel

Western Bagel® started with a simple dream….a dream to provide good bagels to a bagel-barren West Coast. Sixty years later, with eleven retail locations, as well as national and international distribution, Western Bagel® is stronger than ever. ONEgeneration is fortunate to receive donations of bagels every week. Western Bagel has also been generous in supporting past events through sponsorships and gift bag items. Thank you Western Bagel for your continued support!
